20 years of Dumpman Films

Seeing as 2026 is the 20th anniversary of Dumpman Films, some have said that this momentous milepost should probably be marked in some way and who am I to argue.

Arguably, Dumpman Films goes back further than twenty years, as plenty of the footage and stills pre-date 2006, but for the most part, 2006 was when you could first buy the stuff, if you so chose.

Also, 2006 was a busy year for Dumpman Films, with a rush to produce a good number of titles (as opposed to a number of good titles) to get this peculiar little venture off to a flying start; a triumph of quantity over quality:

  • West Pier tour (+original vintage entry ticket from 1966)
  • Kemp Town branch line
  • Selsey Tramway
  • Doomed Ouse Valley line
  • Disused railway tunnels of Sussex
  • Hayling Island branch line
  • Offham chalk pits funicular line
  • Volk’s seagoing tramway (Daddy Long Legs)
  • Devil’s Dyke steep grade line

The blockbuster for that year was an 8 hour 8 dvd set, showing key views of the whole disused railway network in Sussex:

  • The disused railways of Sussex in 2006

In celebration of the 20 years, the main list of nine titles above will be available as a bundle for a mere £20 throughout this year (full price £51). The disused railways of Sussex 8 dvd set will be available for £10. Email your requests directly.

For the year ahead, hoping to bring you news of new filming activity, but nothing is definite yet.

The joyful collaboration with Tracing The Rails featuring your humble cameraman (and the deathtrap that is the rusty old Raleigh Chopper) remains available to view on the link below. The two Christmas specials that appeared on Rewind TV (freeview channel 81) over the Christmas period will no doubt be repeated and I’m told will also be available to view on You Tube later this year.
